this is my kitchen in Dubai

the hood for the cooker is rather low.

in fact it's almost perfect eye poking-out-height for someone of my not unusual six foot height

which puzzled me for a while, as it doesn't seen the best design idea

until I realised that it's probably been built like this on the assumption that most cooking in Dubai is done by a small phillipino lady who also looks after your kids and irons your shirts as well.
