Scales

Page 6 - Scales

What's important on this page?

The key message of this page - certainly the first few paragraphs - is that first and foremost this is designed as a game - so don't go looking to reverse-engineer distances and troop numbers out of the tabletop measurements. Instead ADLG is about getting a feel for an ancient battle, in the context of a playable, balanced game. If that means some liberties may get taken with ground scale, troop density and turn length so be it.

The other key bit on this page is in Measurement. The unit of measurement is the base width of the figures, irrespective of the scale the game is played at. This means ADLG plays the same at different scales, you just need a bigger board for bigger scales.

Oh, and that measurement for 28-30mm scale? Barely anyone uses it, and you certainly won't see it used at any competitions. Its just been included to keep people who whinge on TMP about how fat modern figures are happy, as well as a small number of lucky folks with bottomless pockets and a table tennis table to play on. In the real world, all your 25-28mm ranges will squeeze onto 60mm frontages just fine.
