Britcon 2009
Britcon is a multi-day residential event for competitors, with more than enough opportunity for gaming to satisfy the most ardent wargamer! Competitors are welcome from Thursday onwards, trade show visitors on Saturday & Sunday. I've been going for the past decade or so, and there are many legendary battle reports on this site about my DBx and FoG exploits, often referring to (alledged) alcohol fuelled incidents as well.

Britcon includes a full suite of competitions covering many of the major rulesets and historical (and fantasy!) periods. For 2009 competitors can enter any one of the following periods. All competitions run over 6 games, starting with a game on Friday evening, 3 on Saturday and 2 more on Sunday.
- Flames of War - Mid War, 1750 pts from any published book (Ostfront & Afrika supersede previous lists), no special characters, preset terrain, missions from FOW rulebook
- Flames of War - Late War, 1750 pts (Ostfront & Afrika supersede previous lists), no special characters, preset terrain, missions from FOW rulebook
- Warhammer - Warhammer Players Society Format competition with some amendments. See BHGS website for details, 2750 pts
- Warhammer 40k - 5th Edition, Warhammer Players Society format with some amendments. See BHGS website for details, 2000 pts, all current lists using most recent codex for each.
- Warhammer Ancient Battles v1.5 - WAB 1.5, Warhammer Players Society format, 2000 pts from Alexander, Hannibal, Spartacus, Arthur, Shieldwall, El Cid, and Beyond the Golden Gate
- Field of Glory - Dark Ages to the Renaissance - 15mm. 800AP armies drawn from the army list books Storm of Arrows, Eternal Empire, Swords & Scimitars, Wolves from the Sea
- Field of Glory - From Chariots to Rome's Successors - 15mm. 800AP armies drawn from the army list books Swifter than Beagles, Immortal Fire, Rise of Rome, Legions Triumphant, Decline & Fall (no post 1040AD options allowed in any list)
- Field of Glory - All lists - 25/28mm. 800AP armies drawn from any published book
- DBM - All lists - 15mm. DBM 3.1, 400AP armies drawn from DBM lists 1-4.
- DBMM - All lists - 15mm. 400AP armies drawn from DBMM lists 1-3 and DBM List 4 (as modified in the DBMM rules).
- Armati 2nd Edition - Antiquity & Age of Empires - 15mm. Army lists +75 Bonus points, lists drawn from the A2 booket plus any published on www.warflute.org.
- Principles of War - The French and Austrian 1809 campaign. Terrain & figures will be supplied by the organiser (Tom Penn)
- Blood Bowl - LRB 5.0, using 1,000,000 Gold Crown value teams, from those listed in the LRB
- Epic Armageddon 1st Edition - Warhammer Players Society format
Periods with 6 or less entrants will not be staged without the agreement of all players. Should your period be cancelled for lack of numbers the BHGS will offer either a full refund or entry to another competition period.
