Welcome to the ADLG Wiki on Madaxeman.com

The goal of this project is to create a knowledge hub for everyone who is interested in L'Art de la Guerre to participate and collaborate together.

The "L'Art de la Guerre Wiki" - will have details of loads of armies and how to make them work for you. This will include army lists, guides to using the armies, pictures of figures and listings of suppliers, "further reading" recommendations and more for all the Armies, organised into categories that match the ADLG army list taxonomy. Just like Wikipedia, you can easily edit these pages yourself If you have advice on using an army, want to share a list you have used you can add it to these pages and hundreds of gamers will see it - every week!

To contribute:

Just click on the "register" link, pick a username of at least 5 characters and a password of at least 1 character and answer the "PASSCODE" question (Whats the first name of the Greek general nicknamed "The Great", father called Philip?). Thats it. Honest. For more information on how this all works go to the how this works? page.

Learn How to use the Wiki

There are instructions on how to use this wiki on YouTube , narrated by Philip of Philip and Fernando fame.

Once you have registered, you can start creating new pages, by clicking on the "?" after each army name on this page. When you create a new page, please use the standard structure, which is set up as a template in the wiki. Import the template to your blank page by selecting "Properties" in the Edit Section, and selecting "Army Page Template" from the dropdown menu at the top.

Basing

The rulebook lays out tips for basing models depending on the units' classification, but due to how ADLG relates to other element based games like DBA there is often confusion over the standard. At its simplest, basing in ADLG is the same as DBA, but units typically made of multiple bases (I.e. heavy and medium infantry) are always fielded as one unit and cannot be split. Therefore, when basing heavy infantry, for an example, the unit can be based on either one 40mmx30mm base, or two 40mmx15mm bases ranked up (for 15mm scale).

Note that players are not typically rules lawyers over the basing of certain units. For example, cataphracts are suggested to have 4 models on the base, but it is very difficult to actually fit 4, therefore three is good enough if it's clear they are cataphracts! This is even more true at larger scales where the models even for infantry may not fit, especially when using 28mm models with 25mm basing.

The Rules

The plan is - eventually - to set up pages explaining the important bits in the rules. This is an ongoing project, but to access the work in progress visit the Rules Overview section of this site.
